Holds rank of sergeant. Wins 1st Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster to Bronze Star Medal, Campoleone, Italy. (Awarded May 14, 1945. This award cites Albert L. Young as then a sergeant, but it conflicts with the June 16, 1944 Combat Infantryman Badge award which calls him a corporal. Possibly the reference is to his rank when he won the award earlier, on April 1.)
