WOODS. These photos were probably taken in April in the last push to Munich. The trees are beginning to leaf and the men still wear warm clothing.
042. Here it appears the platoon is being gathered for an address.

044. The shadow of the photographer, probably Albert Young, appears in the bottom.
044-Detail.
045. Heavy Weapons Platoon, Co. H, 179th Infantry Regt. The men carry carbines. Some wear gloves and scarves. The picture appears to have been snapped after the men were addressed by the officer in the above photos. The negative is in poor shape. The men on the right are clear and in good focus.
045-Detail. Click to enlarge. Most of the men in the platoon are recognizable in other photos.

053-Detail. Soldiers watching the parade opposite the review stand, to the right of the church (detail of below photograph). A truck-mounted anti-aircraft gun, soldiers snapping pictures, and a tank are visible. Men have climbed the ruins for a better view. The church in the rear was not rebuilt after the war (?).
